The next queen

Title: The next queen 

Level 2

Synopsis:
In a remote country, there is a very old queen who wants to give her kingdom to one of her three daughters. Both of the older daughters, who are twins, want to be the next queen above all. The queen does not know what to do, so she decides put her daughters to the test and see which one fits best for the position. 

Character description
THE QUEEN: She is a very old queen that is not happy with her situation. Her kingdom flourished when she was young and she had strength to fight for the citizens of her country. However, her ministers and maids now have all the power and rule the country the way they want. She then decides to choose the next queen among her daughters.  

MELINDA: She is the oldest daughter. She is very bossy and wants to be the queen as soon as possible. She wants to have the castle for herself and expel their other relatives from the kingdom. This way, she will be the only member of the royal family and the most powerful person of the country. 

PHILOMENA :  She is very jealous and she is conscious of her older sister’s plans. She has the face of an angel but she tries to learn from her sister how to be the next queen no matter what. 

NORA: She is the youngest daughter of the queen. She is kind, warm-hearted and shy. She doesn’t like to disturb and everybody regards her as very weak and innocent. She just wants to do the right thing all the time.

SCENE 1
In the Queen’s room, the Queen talks with her Maid about how she feels. They talk about the idea of abdication. 

SCENE 2
The Maid tells Melinda her mother’s idea. Her other sister, Philomena, is behind the door and listens to them. 

SCENE 3
The Queen tells the Maid to bring her daughter and she explains her idea. She asks them to go out of the castle and see what they did.

SCENE 4
The next morning, the Queen asks her daughters to explain what they saw and what they do. 


The Queen hears what her daughters have to say about her kingdom and its citizens and makes a decision.

Additional/relevant information:
I wrote this outline with female characters who are powerful because there is a tendency in traditional stories and tales of using only men for characters with power (kings, captains, bosses, etc.) and not so many women.
